The church was founded in October 2008 by 24 year-old heavy metal drummer Christian Gonzalez.
Named ‘Pantokrator’ (Greek for ‘All Powerfull’), thisВ church in capital Bogota boasts around 40 members and has a devoting following.
“Jesus Christ was able to demonstrate that he himself got involved with people no matter their condition – whether they were prostitutes pharysees, thieves or tax-collectors.
“Whatever they were, he got close to them no matter what. In spite of the prevailing concept of religion in those times, that one couldn’t let oneself be ‘contaminated’, he broke that pattern through action.” – explains Gonzalez.
The church spilts its services between traditional mass and biblically themed metal! (see the video below)
“I was looking for a different church, and what caught my attention about this church was rock music.” – said church member Adriana Ardila.
“That’s why I came here, knowing that they had a pastor with long hair and that he likes the same things as the people here. That was incredible.”
With its rosaries made out of chains and denim-lined bibles the rock church has yet to be officially recognized
