Extreme, one of the biggest bands of the late 1980s, are to re-form for a show in their home town, Boston, on June 30. The line-up is Gary Cherone (vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Pat Badger (bass) and Paul Geary (drums).

Swedish metalheads Wolf are to start recording their new, as yet untitled album in June. It’s to be produced by Fredrik Nordstrom, and released towards the end of the year.

The Southport lads Gomez release their new long-player вЂHow To Operate’ on May 29, which will be preceded by the single вЂGirlhshapedlovedrug’ a week earlier. The band then play a nine date jaunt around the UK in June.

Paul Weller is to release a double live album with songs spanning his entire career. ‘Catch – Flame!’, out on June 12, was recorded at London Alexandra Palace on the star’s UK tour last December. As I Lay Dying are to release an album of early recordings next month. It’s to be called ‘A Long March: The First Recordings’. This is also to feature new versions of old songs.

Robert Plant is to be the main attraction at the Cornbury Oxford Music Festival 2006, which happens on July 8/9.

The Doors will celebrate their 40th anniversary by releasing a 12-disc box set in the Autumn through Rhino. As yet untitled, this will include their first six studio albums – all remastered, with bonus tracks – plus six DVDs featuring 5.1 remixes of the studio albums and bonus material.

Limp Bizkit mainman Fred Durst has announced that the band’s next release, ‘The Unquestionable Truth (Part 2)’, will be a full album, followed by a tour. Durst is currently directing his first movie, ‘The Education Of Charlie Banks’.

According to unconfirmed reports, Velvet Revolver – and former Guns n’ Roses – bassist Duff McKagan will join the re-formed Alice In Chains for their Summer tour of the UK and Europe. This will be as a second guitarist.

US thrash-core act Lamb Of God have completed their drum tracks at Spin Studios in Long Island City, NY. Produced by Machine and engineered by Josh Wilbur, the band is working on a forthcoming Epic Records release while also gearing up for their upcoming tour as opening on Slayer‘s Unholy Alliance tour.
