Legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and drummer Patrick Johansson are reportedly scheduled to go into Malmsteen’s Miami, Florida studio next month to begin recording demos for the next YNGWIE MALMSTEEN’S RISING FORCE album. Doogie White (ex-RAINBOW) will once again handle the lead vocals on the CD, which is expected to surface in early 2007.

NEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane is collaborating with former SOILWORK guitarist Peter Wichers on material for Dane‘s first solo album. The CD is expected to include an appearance by Warrel‘s former SANCTUARY (pre-NEVERMORE) bandmate Dave Budbill (currently in ZEROCREEP) on drums. No information is presently available regarding the album’s musical direction or possible release date.

SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor joined SOULFLY on stage earlier today (Saturday, June 24) in Belgium for a rendition of the SOULFLY “classic” “Jumpdafuckup“. Danny Cavanagh, guitarist of UK Doom Metal band ANATHEMA, is to tour Finland and the Baltics in August performing acoustic and piano versions of old and new ANATHEMA songs. Support at Cavanagh’s shows in Finland will come from his acoustic Celtic project LEAFBLADE. Finnish Doom act SILENTIUM will also play at the show in Jyvaskyla.

To coincide with KISS‘ tour of Japan in July, the Japanese record company will once again re-release several KISS albums.
