On Friday, May 11, veteran shock rocker Alice Cooper presented the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award to Chris Cornell at the third annual MusiCares Map Fund Benefit concert, which took place at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre in Hollywood, California. The former singer of Audioslave, Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog, who went through rehab for alcohol and painkillers in early 2002, was awarded because of “his devotion to helping other addicts with the recovery process”.
The dinner after the ceremony featured performances by Cornell, Army of Anyone, Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, among others.
