BEATLES lyrics sell for $192 000

A sheet of paper with the lyrics of “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”penned by Sir Paul McCartney have been sold for $192 000 at an auction in New York.

Another item with a Beatles connection was sold for $38 400 – a taped interview with John Lennon from 1974 in which he discussed his songwriting technique and the possibility of a Beatles reunion.

Apart from the Beatles memorabilia, at the auction was sold one of the guitars of Jimi Hendrix – a Fender Stratocaster for $168 000, a notebook with Bob Marley lyrics for $72 000, as well as a poem by Jim Morrison sold for $50 000.

For comparison, a sheet from Britney Spears’ notebook was sold for $240.
