Disturbing news has been reported about founding Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn. The musician’s ex-wife, Marina Ginn, has filed an affidavit accusing Ginn of child abuse, including acts of denying food to 10 and 7-year-old daughters, threatening them with physical abuse, emotionally harassing them and doing drugs in front of both daughters.
After a 10-year hiatus, Greg Ginn and vocalist Ron Reyes re-formed BLACK FLAG. Ginn, who owns the BLACK FLAG name, unsuccessfully sued former BLACK FLAG members Keith Morris, Dez Cadena, Chuck Dukowski and Bill Stevenson for performing live under the name FLAG.
The full affidavit filed by Marina details some horrifying allegations against Greg Ginn involving the couple’s daughters, Isadora and Karis.
“Isadora Ginn and Karis Ginn live with my ex-husband in an industrial building that also serves as a place where he conducts business and his band rehearses,” the affidavit reads.
“They have complained that his behavior has recently grown increasingly erratic, that he is routinely denying them food and threatening them, that he is increasingly abusing alcohol and drugs in front of them, and that they have witnessed confrontations and physical violence at the building where they live.”
The affidavit continues, “My daughters have complained that they are denied food in the mornings … My children have told me they feel like they are going to pass out in the mornings because they are so hungry … My children have told me that when they are finally given food, it is often just lettuce with vinegar and they are told if they don’t eat it all, they will get no more food. This makes them gag and they end up throwing up.”
The document goes on, “They are also forced to do the cleaning chores until 2 a.m. and are sometimes locked in a room alone with no contact with the outside world through cell phone or e-mails. I disagree strongly with their father’s method of disciplining, which includes throwing cups of water in their face. My youngest daughter will scream and hide under the piano when he does this, she is frightened.”
The document gets even more disturbing, claiming that Ginn had even cat-called his young children, whistling at them and telling them, “you’re hot.”
The affidavit goes so far as to state, “My daughter told me she felt like one day he was going to kill her,” and that she was admitted to the emergency room on Oct. 7 due to stress and anxiety issues.
According to Consequence of Sound, Marina Ginn confirmed to the website that the affidavit is indeed real, but offered no further comment. Greg Ginn and his representatives have yet to respond to the news source’s emails.
