We have long preached the sexual-chocolate gospel of ELECTRIC SIX, and like demonic clockwork, they’re back with Bride of The Devil, their 14th album. With grand promises to “corrupt you and enslave you as the beautiful demonic bride you know you truly are,” the Detroit rock collective kick off the season of the Great Pumpkin with this Oct. 5th release on Metropolis Records (pre-order).
A revitalized energy puts the glorious sounds and thematic metaphors in overdrive on Bride of The Devil. According to the band, The Devil is a metaphor for Russia and the United States is “the young girl who is seduced, corrupted and wedded into a Satanic covenant with the beast” – a scene we’re seeing played out in a molasses-speed train derailment on a national level. But this is no fire-and-brimstone record of doom and gloom. It’s pure fun and madness, a dance party on the Gravitron – with bees.
Our favorite track on the record is ‘You’re Toast,’ a funk-steppin’ jam that finds frontman Dick Valentine wylin’ out like he’s in AC/DC. And goddamnit, we’re thrilled to be premiering it today.
