A computer hacker who attempted to shut down KISS star Gene Simmons’ website has been charged with conspiracy and unauthorized impairment of a protected computer.
Kevin George Poe, 24, was taken into custody without incident by FBI agents at the federal courthouse in Hartford, Connecticut and indicted by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles last week.
Poe faces a maximum of 15 years in federal prison if found guilty.
He is accused of being affiliated with the Anonymous hacking group.
FBI officials claim Poe and others linked to Anonymous conducted a distributed denial of service attack against Simmons’ computer systems last year. As a result, Simmons’ website was rendered useless.
