Ian Copeland Dies at 57

Promoter and booking agent Ian Copeland has passed away at the age of 57 of melanoma on Tuesday. Copeland was regarded as the man responsible for launching the careers of bands like R.E.M., the B52s and his brother’s band, The Police in the 70s and 80s.
While based in New York, he founded Frontier Booking International (F.B.I.) and booked some of the biggest tours in the USA at the time, including Adam Ant, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, R.E.M. and Nine Inch Nails.
