New wave rockers Blondie have announced that they plan to release their ninth studio album in 2011.
Titled Panic of Girls, the release was recorded last November and December in Woodstock, New York.
Frontwoman Debbie Harry wrote most of the lyrics on the new album.
Blondie have been playing some of the new songs while on tour this summer. ‘What I Heard,’ ‘The End’ and ‘Mother’ have found slots in the set list next to classics like ‘Heart of Glass’ and ‘Call Me.’
After a string of hit singles and albums in the late ’70s and early ’80s, Blondie broke up, but reunited in 1997. Since getting back together, the band have released two albums (1999’s No Exit and 2003’s The Curse of Blondie) and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
