Around 200 people assembled today at noon in front of Sofia’s National Theatre building to protest against the current government’s policy on culture and arts.
The event was planned as a gathering of both musicians and film makers, but there were significantly more of the latter in attendance.
In absolute glorious weather, only a handful of musicians turned up to support the event. Djendema & Pesheto performed a short, but lively set.
YesterdayВ one of Bulgaria’s foremost alternative musicians – Vassil Giurov, sent out the following announcementВ , part of which said:
“Now’s the time to find out how many of us actually care and how many are willing to stand up and be counted! We can’t just sit and watch while the government is trying to obliterate Bulgarian film and music!”
