Radiohead’s Thom Yorke Enlists Flea For Solo Live Gigs

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has formed a solo band featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, his longtime production collaborators Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker and multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco and plans to play two live shows with them next week.

The gigs will take place Oct. 4 and 5 at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre, with support from local band Lucky Dragons.

“We don’t really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz .. well .. we haven’t got that much material yet,” Yorke wrote on Radiohead’s Web site. He said the group had recently come “together for fun” to play new songs and tracks from his 2006 solo album, ‘The Eraser.’

Of late, Yorke has released a batch of solo music, highlighted by a new 12-inch single with the songs ‘Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses’ and ‘The Hollow Earth.’

Another new song, ‘Hearing Damage,’ will appear on Atlantic’s “New Moon” soundtrack, due Oct. 20.
