After an almostВ 30-year-long history, Rough Trade – the London-based label who signed Cabaret Voltaire, Butthole Surfers, The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, Stiff Little Fingers, James, Super Furry Animals, Babyshambles, Arcade Fire, The Libertines, Maximo Park, The Strokes and many other indie artists – was bought by the Beggars Group.
However, the company, which was owned by the Sanctuary Records Group until now, shall continue to operate as always, run by founder Geoff Travis and his partner Jeannette Lee (ex-PIL), and “to bring new records and new artists to the world’s attention.”
