SOILWORK Man’s Classic Rock Project

Soilwork frontman Bjorn ‘Speed’ Strid is currently working on a solo project – and it’s definitely inspired by 70s classic rock.

As the Swedish band prepare to release new album The Panic Broadcast (out through Nuclear Blast on July 2), the singer exclusively revealed details on his new venture to British Classic Rock magazine.

“It’s called Night Flight Orchestra, and also involves (bassist) Sharlee D’Angelo from Arch Enemy, plus a load of really cool, but unknown musicians. The influence is definitely the 1970s. What will it sound like? Destroyer era Kiss, Alice Cooper, Bruce Springsteen around the time of Born To Run, Journey, Boston, Bob Seger…it’s a really diverse mix.”

A longtime fan of this music, Strid is taking his time recording an album.

“Right now we’re in the studio, but with no label breathing down our necks, we can take as long as we want to. Will we tour? I hope so, but it all depends on fitting in with Soilwork’s plans.”
