Spotify, according to the Wall Street Journal, is looking to expand into the wide, wide world of video. In today’s report, WSJ writes that they spoke to “people familiar with the matter” and subsequently found that the popular music streaming service “has been reaching out to companies that specialize in making content for YouTube” and looking into buying exclusive content and partnering with video-production companies.
This could mean any number of things, especially the obvious: that the company would like to start producing original video content. What this means for Jay Z TIDAL, a competing streaming company that partially seeks new customers with the promise of exclusive, high-profile music videos, is anyone’s guess.
