Time’s All-TIME 100: Eminem – yes, Pink Floyd – no

Recently the popular Time magazine published a list of the 100 greatest albums of all time.

Among the mentioned are Metallica, AC/DC, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Miles Davies, Frank Sinatra, etc. Along with the rock, jazz, blues and pop classics in the list, divided into decades from the 1950’s to now, are also included rap artists like Eminem, Dr. Dre and NWA.

The weird thing is the fact that Pink Floyd whose album “Dark Side of the Moon”, to name one, has been on the top 200 of Billboard for more than 1500 weeks, is not in the list.

“We researched and listened and agonized until we had a list of the greatest and most influential records ever – and then everyone complained because there was no Pink Floyd on it”, explain the authors Josh Tyrangiel and Alan Light. “And that’s exactly how it should be. …Read and listen to the arguments for the selections, then tell us what we missed or got wrong. Or even possibly what we got right.”
