The leading agency for marketing and social research and surveys – Alpha Research, has published the latest results from a poll, conducted amongst radio listeners in Bulgaria.
According to said poll, Tangra Mega Rock radio has approximately 109 000 listeners in Bulgaria.
This, despite the fact that TMR broadcasts only online and via satellite, cable and mobile phone. Compared to other local rock radio stations, who have the massive advantage of FM frequencies, TMR fares quite well, with 1.7% to Star FM’s 2.0%, Z-Rock’s 4.0% and Radio 1 Rock’s 3.9%. Also, this doesn’t include TMR’s sizeable audience from Bulgarian communities worldwide, with the station being a particular favourite in the US, UK, Germany, France and Australia.
“The results aren’t bad at all, but we’re not really suprised,” commented the station’s programme director Vassil Varbanov.
“Considering we’re with a bit of a handicap compared to the others, it feels like we’re the real winners here. We have absolutely no intention of acquiring an FM frequency. That would mean losing our independence and there’s no way we’re prepared to do that. In any case FM radio is old hat, we’re living in the 21st century now, moving with the times. Onward and upward – Beat the Bastards!”
