Re-Act & Area 51 – the organisers of Union Fest 2006 have issued the following statement:
“After the first day of Union Fest 2006 in club Comics, Varna the police authorities have issued an prohibition for the second day of the festival.
The reason given by the police is “breach of the peace” although there are NONE registered incidents in the area, where the festival is held.
It looks like the politicians in Varna don’t want the young people to gather together and have fun.
The festival was stopped by the same people, that gave all the permissions needed for conducting the event, with NO valid reason.
That was just a demonstration of power and a consecutive evidence that the totalitarianism is still alive and we all have to reject that system from the past.
The first day of Union Fest 2006 was a complete success with more than 600 people enjoying the music for more than 8 hours with all the 16 bands that played that day.
Unfortunately the second day will not happen thanks to Varna municipality.
People who have bought tickets for the whole event were offered their money for the second day back.
We wish to thank all the people that came and supported Union Fest 2006.
We will see you next year at the same time, but at a different place!”
