Legendary country music singer Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.
Parton, 80, passed away at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville on Tuesday following a “brief battle” with cancer. She surrounded by loved ones, the statement added.
Parton had acknowledged facing health issues in recent months, prompting the cancellation of her planned Las Vegas residency. In various updates to fans, she said her ailments included kidney stones, issues related to her immune and digestive systems, and dehydration. She attributed neglecting her own health to focusing on caring for her late husband, Carl Dean, but assured fans that her conditions were “treatable.”
At Parton’s request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, her family has has asked fans looking to pay tribute to make a donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
